2006
Founded
With a passion for technology - Hillcrest Computer Services was born. By night - Barry built and fixed computers on the kitchen table (which to this day still bears the scars of this history) and by day - studied Business Management and Information Systems engineering.
2011
Moved to Chartwell
After graduating University - Hillcrest Computer Services was moved to a more secure premises in Chartwell Hamilton in order to continue growing and was rebranded to PC Heroes. We continued to forge strong relationships with businesses around the Waikato in need of Plain English IT solutions - and connect them to modern service and product vendors around the world.
2013
Strengthened B2B Focus
As our team grew, we moved to a commercial space in Chartwell, focusing on proactive and diverse business services, which led to the creation of our MSSP (Managed Services and Security Provider) business. We continued to serve the consumer repair and hardware market as well.
2017
Millennium Merger
An opportunity arose to acquire and amalgamate with Millennium Technology - formed in 1996 - was a highly respected and long-standing computer manufacturing brand in the Waikato, Tauranga and Taupo.
2019
Consolidated Brands
We completed the Millennium acquisitions in Hamilton and Tauranga, integrating our MSSP operations. Our brands, PC Heroes and Millennium Technology, were consolidated under the Millennium Technology name, shifting our focus to Business IT Solutions and Security. After the merger, we moved from two smaller Hamilton locations to a larger space in Te Rapa to foster team spirit and collaboration.
2020
Became a Spark IT Partner
While still privately owned family business based here in Hamilton – we gained accreditation as a Spark IT Partner to help look after Spark SME customers throughout the Waikato Region – which has introduced us to many new and exciting small and medium businesses while providing a powerful partnership and support to help us deliver more effective services to customers. Then COVID hit. The world changed overnight.
2022
Consolidated Retail Ops
Due to a talent shortage from closed borders, we restructured our retail operations into our business-to-business MSSP department. This led to the closure of our Consumer Repair departments, allowing us to focus solely on delivering high-value products and services to our business customers.
2024
Founded AI COE
Inspired by ChatGPT and a growing set of AI technologies, we founded our AI Center of Excellence to explore real-world AI use cases in business. With many lagging and misinformation prevalent, our focus is on uncovering truths and opportunities in this rapidly evolving field.
2024
Today
We remain steadfast in our vision to be one of New Zealand’s most trusted and respected business IT Service Providers for Small to Medium sized businesses. All the credit goes to our wonderful team, and our loyal customers, who have helped us create something quite special and exciting – right here in the Waikato.
Our Team
We strive to be the best version of ourselves – and as such help hundreds of businesses throughout the Waikato with the best IT Services tailored to their budgets. None of this would be possible without our dedicated team of people.
